A wholefoods product update: Mayver's Tahini

TahiniIsn’t it interesting how far our food products have come over the last 50 years? Everything used to be so simple. Families had a vege patch. Food was only bought in season. Meals were cooked from scratch. Families sat down to eat together.

Oh how times have changed. Packaged food is plentiful. Exotic foods from all around the globe are on our door step. Food and the meals we cook seem so much more complex!

This week is National Stroke Week.  Whilst researching the latest facts on Stroke (check out the Stroke Foundation’s website here), I learnt an interesting one. Did you know 1 in 6 people in Australia will have a Stroke? Sounds like a pretty high risk to me. Something we all need to think about……

I don’t want to bang on about this depressing statistic but I thought this week might be a timely moment to bring up the issue of salt. One of the major risks for Stroke is High Blood Pressure. Linked with this is salt. Eating too much salt is strongly related to developing High Blood Pressure.
